What is the difference between trading and investing?

Trading and investing both involve seeking profit in the financial markets, but they pursue that goal in different ways. Time horizon is the main difference between traders and investors. Trading is about monitoring minute gyrations of the markets using technical analysis and buying and selling assets for short-term profit. Investing is about evaluating assets long-term potential and buying/selling for a time horizon longer than 6 months.
